In a new initiative, the Golan Heights Winery and the current Golan Brewery have announced a joint venture to set up a premium Golan Brewery in Katzrin in the near future. It is planned the new brewery will produce 300,000 liters of beer in 330 ml. bottles and draft kegs.
This is another example of the beer and wine worlds working together in Israel. Already Tempo, Israel’s largest brewery, own Barkan – Segal, Israel’s second largest winery.
Also Coca Cola Israel/ Carlsberg Israel (aka Central Bottling Company), Israel’s largest beverage producer, own Tabor Winery. Tabor is one of the ten largest wineries and is one of the fastest growing in the country.
The move by the Golan Heights Winery increases the basket of goods they distribute, allows them to reach a younger market and re-emphasises their commitment to the Golan Heights. Maybe the Golan Heights, which is famous for its wine (Yarden, Gamla, Golan) and water (Eden), will soon become more well-known also for its beer.
